A significant fire broke out at a domestic property on Wood End, Penwortham, prompting a swift response from emergency services on Friday afternoon.
At 15:59, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service dispatched four fire engines from Preston, Leyland, Fulwood, and Penwortham, along with the aerial ladder platform from Preston and a support fire engine, to combat the blaze.
The fire, which originated in a bedroom and spread to the roof space, caused considerable damage to the property.
Firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus, worked diligently to extinguish the flames. Four breathing apparatus, one hose reel, and two positive pressure ventilation units were employed to bring the fire under control and clear smoke from the building.
Residents in the vicinity reported seeing a large emergency response with multiple fire engines and support vehicles at the scene. The rapid and coordinated effort of the firefighters prevented the fire from causing further damage to the property and potentially spreading to neighbouring homes.
“The fire was contained to the bedroom and roof space thanks to the prompt action of our crews,” stated a spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.
“The use of breathing apparatus and ventilation units was crucial in extinguishing the fire and ensuring the safety of everyone involved.”
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. No injuries were reported.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service reminds residents of the importance of having working smoke alarms and practising fire safety measures at home.
