Body Recovered from Thames Linked to Knockholt Murder

A body recovered from the River Thames is being linked to the murder investigation of Lisa Smith, who was shot dead in Knockholt last month.

On Friday, March 7th, at approximately 3:45 pm, a body was located near Rainham, Essex.

This discovery follows the murder of 43-year-old Lisa Smith, who was fatally shot outside a pub on Main Road, Knockholt, on Friday, February 14th, 2025.

Following the murder, police identified a suspect known to Ms. Smith. Later that evening, officers located the suspect’s abandoned vehicle on the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge.

Enquiries subsequently revealed that the suspect had entered the water below.

While formal identification of the body recovered near Rainham has not yet taken place, police have informed the man’s family of the discovery.
