Police are urgently appealing for witnesses and footage after a 13-year-old girl was subjected to a disturbing act of exposure in Lowerfold Park.
The incident occurred between 5:50 pm and 6:00 pm on Saturday, March 1st, 2025.
The young victim was playing in the park when she noticed a man repeatedly circling the area. As she walked along a path adjacent to Lowerfold Road, she observed the same man seated on a bench.
Moments later, upon turning around, she was horrified to see him exposing himself towards her.
The suspect is described as a man approximately 5ft 10 inches tall with a stocky build. He was wearing a distinctive outfit: a black balaclava or ski mask, a long black coat reaching his lower legs, black trousers, and black trainers.
Lancashire Police have launched a thorough investigation, including reviewing available footage from the area. However, they are now calling on the public for assistance.
“We are asking anyone who was in Lowerfold Park on Saturday evening and witnessed anything suspicious to come forward,” stated a police spokesperson.
“We are also appealing to residents in the surrounding areas to check any doorbell, CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage that might have captured someone matching the suspect’s description.”
The incident has understandably caused concern within the local community.
Police have reassured residents that they are treating the incident with the utmost seriousness and, while currently considered isolated, have increased reassurance patrols in the area as a precautionary measure.
