A man in his 20s is in hospital with serious arm injuries after a daylight shooting in Netherton’s Killen Green Park this morning, Friday, March 7th.

Merseyside Police are appealing for information following the incident, which occurred at approximately 11:15 am near Granams Croft. The victim, who was reportedly seen riding a yellow scrambler bike shortly before the shooting, was found nearby by emergency services after fleeing the scene on foot.

Detectives believe the attack was targeted.

The victim is currently in hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable. A cordon remains in place at the park as forensic officers conduct investigations, including house-to-house inquiries and CCTV analysis.

Detective Inspector John Mullen stated,

“While the investigation is at a very early stage, we believe this was a targeted incident. Residents in Netherton can expect to see an increased high visibility policing presence in the area in the coming days as we conduct our enquiries.”

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information, including dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell camera footage, to come forward.

“Guns bring nothing but misery to the heart of our communities,” DI Mullen emphasized, appealing for public assistance in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

“We conduct warrants, land searches and stop searches all year round to disrupt people who carry weapons, and that activity is targeted based on our intelligence and information form the public.

We ask our communities to keep helping us by coming forward and telling us what they know so that we can take action.”
