A 77-year-old woman has been hospitalized with life-changing injuries after a violent robbery on the corner of Crosby Street and Leyton Street in Rochdale on Thursday morning.
Greater Manchester Police are appealing for information following the incident, which occurred at approximately 10:40 am on March 6th, 2025.
According to police reports, the victim was walking along the street when she was forcibly knocked to the ground by an unidentified suspect.
The assailant then stole her handbag before fleeing the scene.
The elderly woman sustained significant injuries in the attack and was immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment. Medical professionals have described her injuries as life-changing.
Detectives have been conducting thorough investigations, pursuing several lines of enquiry, and are now urging the public to come forward with any information that might assist them in identifying and apprehending the perpetrator.
“This was a brutal attack on a vulnerable elderly woman, and we are determined to bring the person responsible to justice,” stated a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police.
“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has any information, CCTV footage, or dashcam footage from the area at the time, to please come forward.”
Police are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the vicinity of Crosby Street and Leyton Street around 10:40 am on Thursday.
