Lancashire Constabulary has made an arrest and seized a significant quantity of cannabis plants as part of Operation Mille, a national initiative targeting cannabis cultivation.

Officers executed three warrants across the West Division last month, uncovering illegal operations in Thornton Cleveleys and Blackpool.

The most substantial find occurred at a property on Coronation Road, Thornton Cleveleys, where approximately 100 cannabis plants were discovered.

A 29-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis, abstracting electricity, and possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

She has since been released on bail pending further investigation.

A 32-year-old man also voluntarily attended a police station and was interviewed regarding the cultivation of cannabis.

Further operations led officers to a property on Wilford Street, Blackpool, where around 70 cannabis plants were seized. The electricity supply at this location had also been bypassed, a common practice in illicit grow operations.

Digital evidence was seized from a property on Bispham Road, Thornton Cleveleys.

“These operations demonstrate our commitment to tackling organised crime within our communities,” stated a spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary.

“Cannabis cultivation is not a victimless crime. It is intrinsically linked to serious and organised criminality, including violence, exploitation, and anti-social behaviour. These illicit activities fuel other criminal enterprises, such as county lines drug trafficking, modern slavery, human trafficking, and child sexual exploitation.”

Operation Mille is a nationwide effort aimed at dismantling criminal networks involved in the cultivation and distribution of cannabis.

Lancashire Police are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity that may indicate cannabis cultivation.

Signs to look out for include:

* Strong, pungent smells emanating from properties.
* Blacked-out windows or constantly closed curtains.
* Excessive condensation on windows.
* Unusual levels of heat emanating from properties.
* Frequent visitors at unusual hours.
* Bypassed electricity meters or tampered wiring.

Anyone with information about suspected cannabis cultivation or other criminal activity is encouraged to contact Lancashire Constabulary on 101 or report it anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
