Accrington Standstill as Police Respond to Welfare Concerns on Avenue Parade

Accrington has seen a significant police presence on Avenue Parade today, Friday, March 7th, following a report of concern for the welfare of a man inside a residential address.

Lancashire Constabulary confirmed they were called to the scene shortly after 11:30 am.

In response to the situation, officers, including specially trained negotiators, have been deployed to the location.

“Officers, including specially trained negotiators, are currently at the scene as we try to bring the matter to a peaceful conclusion,” a police spokesperson stated.

Residents in the vicinity may notice an increased police presence as the situation unfolds.

The focus of the operation is to ensure the safety of all involved and to resolve the situation without further escalation.

Officers remain at the scene carrying out investigations.

The incident was resolved at around 6pm.

Police confirmed a 58-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of affray.
