A series of high-value vehicle thefts that plagued the Fylde area late last year has seen a significant breakthrough, with one man charged and remanded in custody.
Lancashire Constabulary’s Fylde Rural Task Force, in collaboration with Roads Policing and Road Crime Teams, have successfully linked five Porsche Macan thefts and one attempted theft to an organized criminal operation.
Following extensive investigations involving CCTV analysis, financial records, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) data, and telephone enquiries, officers identified a pattern and began to close in on the perpetrators.
A crucial lead emerged when one of the stolen Porsches was located, bearing cloned license plates.
Working in partnership with Cheshire Police, Lancashire Constabulary successfully intercepted the stolen vehicle on the motorway.
The driver, Marius VINSKAUSKAS, 32, of Orchard Road, St Annes, was apprehended and subsequently arrested.
After careful review of the evidence, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorized charges against VINSKAUSKAS.
He has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and conspiracy to commit theft of motor vehicles.
VINSKAUSKAS has been remanded in prison and is scheduled to appear at Preston Crown Court on March 31, 2025.
“We understand the impact these thefts have had on our community, and we have worked tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice,” stated a spokesperson for the Fylde Rural Task Force.
“This arrest and charge demonstrate our commitment to tackling organised crime in the Fylde area. We will not tolerate such activity and will continue to pursue those involved.”
The operation highlights the effectiveness of inter-agency cooperation and the use of advanced investigative techniques in combating vehicle theft.
Lancashire Constabulary hopes this development will provide reassurance to residents and serve as a strong deterrent to potential offenders.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are urging anyone with further information related to these incidents to come forward.
