A 14-year-old male has been arrested in connection with a series of shed break-ins that occurred in the Dunnock Lane and Finch Lane areas of Cottam overnight on Monday, March 3rd, 2025.

The arrest, made by Preston Response Team officers, follows enquiries conducted by the Neighbourhood Policing Team.

The youth was taken into custody on suspicion of committing the offences and has since been released on police bail pending further investigation.

Residents in the affected areas reported multiple sheds being targeted, with concerns raised about the security of their property. In response, the Neighbourhood Policing Team has pledged to increase patrols in the area to provide reassurance and deter further criminal activity.

“We understand the distress and concern these break-ins have caused within the community,” stated a spokesperson from the Preston Neighbourhood Policing Team.

“We are committed to thoroughly investigating these incidents and bringing those responsible to justice.”

The police are urging residents to remain vigilant and take extra precautions to secure their homes and outbuildings. This includes ensuring sheds and garages are locked, installing security lighting, and considering the use of CCTV or alarm systems.

“We encourage anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or has information that could assist our investigation to come forward,” the spokesperson added.

The Neighbourhood Policing Team has thanked the public for their cooperation and encourages residents to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.

This arrest marks a significant step in the ongoing investigation, and officers are continuing to pursue all lines of enquiry.
