A tense atmosphere has gripped a Chorley neighbourhood following a reported affray involving armed men on Eaves Lane.
Lancashire Police are now urgently appealing for information and footage after a group of men were seen chasing another, some brandishing weapons, in broad daylight on Monday afternoon.
Officers were dispatched to the scene, near Moss Close, at 5:03 PM on March 4th, after receiving reports of the alarming disturbance.
Upon arrival, however, the groups had dispersed, leaving no immediate sign of injury.
Detective Inspector Ian Derbyshire, of Chorley CID, expressed the seriousness with which the incident is being treated.
“We know that anybody who saw this incident would have understandably been concerned, and I would like to reassure residents that we are taking this matter extremely seriously,” he stated.
A dedicated team of officers has been conducting extensive enquiries in the area, including door-to-door investigations and the review of potential CCTV footage.
The police are now specifically requesting any mobile phone, doorbell, or dashcam footage captured between 4:50 PM and 5:10 PM on Monday.
“As part of those enquiries we are asking anyone who saw or captured anything suspicious in the area on their mobile phone, doorbell or dashcam footage between 4.50pm and 5.10pm to make contact with my team as soon as possible,” DI Derbyshire urged.
While no arrests have been made at this stage, the police have confirmed that the incident is being treated as isolated.
Nevertheless, increased reassurance patrols have been deployed in the area as a precautionary measure to alleviate community concerns.
Residents are being asked to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
Anyone with information or footage related to the incident is encouraged to contact Lancashire Police on 101, quoting log number 1057 of March 4th.
