Two Men Hospitalized After Stabbing Incident in Toxteth Disturbance

A large-scale disturbance in the Toxteth area of Liverpool on Tuesday evening resulted in two men being hospitalized, one with a stab wound to the chest.

Merseyside Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the incident, which occurred on Granby Street.

Officers were called to the scene shortly before 9 pm on March 4th after receiving reports of an assault. A man in his 20s sustained a stab wound to the chest, while a man in his 40s suffered a laceration to his face. Both victims are currently receiving treatment in hospital.

A comprehensive investigation is now underway, with police conducting witness interviews, reviewing CCTV footage, and carrying out forensic examinations at the scene. Road closures are in place in the vicinity of Granby Street to facilitate the investigative work.

Detective Inspector Mike Fletcher stated,

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish what has taken place this evening. We know there was a disturbance around the Granby Street area and as a result two men have suffered injuries for which they are receiving hospital treatment.”

He continued, “We are speaking to people at the scene and viewing CCTV. We would ask anyone who was in the area of Granby Street who saw or heard anything or believes they captured something significant on their dashcam, mobile phone or doorbell camera to contact us as a matter of urgency.”

Merseyside Police reiterated their commitment to tackling knife crime and apprehending offenders, urging the public to assist with their investigation.

“Merseyside Police remains committed to combatting knife crime and detaining offenders and we would ask that people assist us by coming forward and telling us what they know,” said Detective Inspector Fletcher.
