A serious collision in Huyton has left a male cyclist with serious injuries after being struck by a car that fled the scene.
Merseyside Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the incident, which occurred at approximately 12:20 PM on Wednesday, March 5th.
The collision took place at the junction of Tarbock Road and Manley Road, where a car collided with a male cyclist riding a blue mountain bike.
The driver of the vehicle failed to stop, prompting an immediate police investigation.
Following inquiries, officers located an abandoned vehicle on Greenfield Drive, believed to be the car involved in the collision. A 34-year-old man from Liverpool has been arrested in connection with the incident.
The cyclist sustained serious injuries and is receiving medical treatment. The extent of their injuries has not yet been released.
Inspector Jason Higham from the Roads Policing Unit stated, “We are in the very early stages of investigating this incident and we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
This is a serious collision, and we are determined to establish the circumstances of what happened.”
He urged anyone who witnessed the collision or who was driving in the area and may have captured the incident on dashcam footage to contact the police immediately. “Any small detail could be vital in assisting our investigation and could help us to provide answers as to how this collision has occurred,” Inspector Higham added.
Road closures remain in place at the junction of Tarbock Road and Manley Road, and motorists are advised to avoid the area while police conduct their investigations.
