Met Police Launch Murder Investigation After 16-Year-Old Boy Shot Dead in Clapham

The Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation following the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy in Clapham.

Officers are appealing for witnesses and information after the tragic incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon.

Police were called at approximately 14:30hrs on Tuesday, 4 March, to reports of a shooting on Paradise Road, SW4. Upon arrival, officers, alongside London’s Air Ambulance and the London Ambulance Service, found the teenage boy suffering from gunshot wounds.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the 16-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

“This is an enormously shocking incident which I imagine will cause huge distress to the local community,” said Superintendent Gabriel Cameron, who is leading the local policing response. “Our thoughts are with the young boy’s family at this devastating time.”

Local officers are currently on the scene, gathering CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses to piece together the events leading up to the shooting. They will be supported by specialist homicide investigators. A crime scene and cordons remain in place as forensic examinations are conducted.

“Please rest assured we will work around the clock to identify and find those responsible,” Superintendent Cameron assured the public.

No arrests have been made at this early stage of the investigation.

The police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to come forward.

“If you were a witness or have any information, please call police on 101 with the reference 4116/4MAR,” urged a police spokesperson.

Alternatively, individuals can provide information anonymously by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The Metropolitan Police are appealing to the community for assistance in their investigation and are committed to bringing those responsible to justice.
