A 43-year-old man is in custody after Merseyside Police, acting on intelligence from Project Medusa, seized firearms, a large quantity of drugs and cash in Stoneycroft.
The man was initially arrested on Monday, March 3rd, in Liverpool on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs. This arrest followed an investigation led by Project Medusa, a Merseyside-led initiative targeting County Lines drug dealing and child criminal exploitation.
A subsequent search of an address in Stoneycroft resulted in the recovery of a significant amount of suspected Class A drugs, a substantial quantity of cash, and two suspected firearms.
The arrested man is being questioned on suspicion of a range of serious offences, including possession of a firearm, possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs, acquiring, using or possessing criminal property, and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.
Detective Sergeant Keiran Connolly from the County Lines Investigations Team emphasized the police’s commitment to tackling serious organised crime.
“We are relentless in our pursuit of those suspected of being involved in serious organised crime in Merseyside and we are determined to rid our streets of dangerous firearms and drugs that cause misery for local people in our communities,” he stated.
DS Connolly also appealed to the public for assistance, urging anyone with information to come forward.
“It’s vital that members of the public come forward with information so we can make our communities safer for the decent, law-abiding people who live in areas affected by gun and drug crime,” he said.
He reassured potential informants that their safety was paramount, stating,
“Where people are willing to support the police, we will ensure every possible avenue is progressed to protect them.”
For those who prefer to remain anonymous, DS Connolly recommended contacting Crimestoppers.
“And if you don’t feel comfortable coming directly to the police call the independent, anonymous, Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555 111, we need to know who is involved in drug and gun crime and where they are being stored.”
Anyone with information about the suspected storage or supply of drugs and guns is urged to contact Merseyside Police Contact Centre on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
