A coordinated strike by police, trading standards, environmental services, and immigration officers has dismantled a suspected drug operation operating from a business premises in Hyde town centre this morning, Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
Three men in their 30s are now in custody, facing serious charges of possession with intent to supply Class C drugs and immigration offences.
The dramatic raid, executed by the Hyde Godley Neighbourhood Team, followed a surge of intelligence gathered from multiple agencies and crucial tips from concerned residents.
The operation targeted a business suspected of being a front for illegal activities, including the distribution of illicit vapes.
The swift and decisive action is part of an ongoing crackdown on criminal enterprises masquerading as legitimate businesses, such as barbers and newsagents.
“The intelligence we received through community submissions was critical,” stated PCSO Andy Mantell from the Hyde Godley Neighbourhood Team.
“I want to personally thank those who came forward and shared crucial information. Your intel and cooperation are instrumental in helping us maintain the safety and security of our community.”
The image released by Greater Manchester Police shows officers entering the premises. The operation, which involved a significant presence of officers and partner agencies, sent a clear message that such activities will not be tolerated.
“We take drug and immigration offences seriously at GMP, and today’s operation alongside a number of partners demonstrates our unwavering commitment to public safety,” PCSO Mantell added.
“This warrant sends another message to anyone who thinks they are above the law, that these illegal activities will not be tolerated.”
The three arrested men remain in police custody for questioning, and enquiries are ongoing.
The successful operation underscores the importance of community collaboration in combating crime and ensuring the safety of the town.
