Investigators are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward
A pall of sorrow has descended upon Chorley following the tragic death of a man in his 70s, nearly seven weeks after a collision with a car. The incident, which initially appeared to result in minor injuries, has now ended in heartbreaking loss.
The collision occurred at the junction of Lyons Lane and Charnock Street on Monday, January 15th, at approximately 4:55 pm. A Mercedes EQA 250+ AMG collided with the pedestrian, who was initially assessed and treated for what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
However, the situation took a devastating turn. Lancashire Constabulary has now confirmed that the man sadly passed away on Friday, March 1st.
The news has deeply saddened the local community, and the man’s family is being supported by specially trained officers during this incredibly difficult time.
“We are deeply saddened to report the death of this gentleman,” stated a spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary. “Our thoughts are with his family and friends as they navigate this devastating loss. We are now working to understand the circumstances that led to his passing.”
The police are now appealing to the public for any information that may assist their ongoing enquiries. They are particularly interested in obtaining CCTV or dashcam footage from the area of Lyons Lane and Charnock Street, both from the time of the collision and the surrounding period.
“Any piece of information, no matter how small, could be crucial to our investigation,” the spokesperson added. “If you witnessed the collision or have any footage that could be helpful, please come forward.”
