Man in his 40s cut free from car following collision with HGV and Cupra V1 in Hapton

Work is ongoing to establish what led upto the collision say Lancashire Police

A man has been left hospitalised with serious injuries following a collision in Hapton on Friday night.

In an appeal made today, Lancashire Police said:

“We are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a serious collision in Hapton.

Our officers were called to the A6068 Higher Shuttleworth Road at 6.13pm yesterday following reports a Ford Puma heading towards the M65 had collided with Scania Artic HGV and a Cupra Born V1.

The driver of the Ford, a man in is 40s, suffered a number of serious injuries. He remains in hospital at this time.”

Sgt Bex Price, of our Road Policing Unit, said: “As a result of this collision a man has been left with serious injuries.

“Work is ongoing to establish the exact circumstances which led to the collision and I would ask any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage which could assist with our enquiries to contact the police as soon as possible.”

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service said:

“On 28th February 2025, two fire engines from Hyndburn and Burnley attended a road traffic collision on Higher Shuttleworth, Altham.

The incident involved one heavy goods vehicle and two cars. Crews extricated one casualty from a vehicle. Crews were in attendance for two hours.
