Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward
A girl aged 9 has been taken to hospital with injuries in what police are describing as serious and life changing after being attacked by a dog in South Manchester.
In a statement released today, Greater Manchester Police said:
“At 6:40pm last night (Thursday 27 February) we were called to reports that a young girl, aged 9, had been attacked by a dog in South Manchester on playing fields running alongside Ashstead Road and Croft Road in the Brooklands area.
It’s believed that a large, black dog approached the young girl and attacked her. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries, that are believed to be life-changing.
Police are appealing to the public for information to assist with enquiries.
Were you in the area yesterday evening and perhaps saw the incident, or have you seen a large black dog in the area? We are also keen to identify the owner of the dog, if you have any information, please come forward.
Additional officers have been deployed to the area to conduct searches and speak with the community.
