Man admits to plying girl 14 with alcohol before engaging in sexual activity

Following an investigation into historic sex offences against a teenager by Lancashire Police a man from Rochdale has admitted to engaging in sexual activity with the teen when appearing at Burnley Crown Court.

In an update posted today, Lancashire Police said:

“A man has admitted to engaging in sexual activity with a child he when he was 17.

Shelim Ahmed, 37, committed the offences in Rochdale the early 2000s when the victim was aged 14.

Ahmed plied his victim with alcohol before committing the offences.

The victim, who now lives in Lancashire, reported the offences to us in October 2022 and following a comprehensive investigation, Ahmed pleaded guilty to 15 counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child when he appeared at Burnley Crown Court earlier this month.

Ahmed, of Corbett Street, Rochdale, will be sentenced at the same court on 17th April.”
