“We understand the worry that news of a 15-year-old being stabbed will bring to the community, and we have deployed additional high visibility patrols in the area.
“We believe the victim, who was on a bike, was attacked near to Crosby Leisure Centre on Mariners Road by two other males on electric bikes. He managed to escape from them on an electric bike himself but collided with a car on Cambridge Road.
“The driver of the car stopped to help and phoned the emergency services.
“We have carried out forensic examinations at the scene and house-to-house inquiries and continue to examine CCTV footage in a bid to establish the circumstances leading up to the incident.
“The area around Crosby baths will have been busy around 6pm and we continue to urge anyone who saw any part of this incident to come forward.
“I would also appeal to drivers who may have dashcam footage to get in touch with us so we can find those responsible and put them before the courts.”
Det Insp Edward Barr added: “There is no place for knives in our communities and we will always seek to take positive action when we have information about people are storing, carrying or using weapons.
