A car driving in a careless manner has been seized by Police in Preston.

The VW Golf was spotted in Preston close to Queens Retail Shopping Park by officers from Lancs Police Specialst Ops on Monday morning driving in a careless manner.

Police said a section 59 warning was already issued to the driver within the last 12 months for driving in an anti-social manner, and therefore, the car was seized.

A section 59 is a warning given to drivers who use the roads in an anti-social manner and they last for 12 months giving Police the powers to removed vehicles from the road who continue to drive in this manner.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said earlier:

“This morning, the following VW Golf was spotted by Roads Policing Officers driving in a careless manner in Preston.

Unfortunately for the driver, they had already been issued with a S.59 warning, meaning the vehicle was seized.

The driver attempted to produce a certificate of insurance, which was fake and was therefore reported for driving with no insurance. As well as driving a vehicle with a smashed windscreen and heavily tinted windows.”
