The occupants fled the scene following the incident on Sunday
Five arrested have been made following an investigation into a collision in Eccles at the weekend.
A car collided with a property on Liverpool Road, causing extensive damage to its front end on Sunday before the occupants of the vehicle fled the scene.
A road closure was put in place, and residents were evacuated from their homes whilst emergency service responded to the collision.
In a social media post made earlier, Greater Manchester Police said:
“Emergency services are currently responding to a road traffic collision on Liverpool Road in Eccles.
A car has collided with a property and the occupants of the vehicle have fled. Enquiries are ongoing to locate them.
Properties were evacuated as a precaution and residents have since been able to return.”
In an update posted on Sunday night, Greater Manchester Police said:
“Officers have secured five arrests in relation to the Liverpool Road crash.
Two men and two women have been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop and criminal damage.
Another man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. They are in custody.”
