Crews called to Whittle-le-woods landfill fire

Firefighters spent over two hours at the scene in the early hours of Monday morning

Emergency services rushed to a fire at a landfill site in Whittle-le-woods in the early hours of Monday morning.

Four fire engines from Leyland, Fulwood, Bamber Bridge and Chorley were dispatched to the fire on Dawson Lane shortly after 3am. Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and spent over two hours battling the fire using one hose reel.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service said:

“On 24th February at 03:04, four fire engines from Leyland, Fulwood, Bamber Bridge, and Chorley attended a landfill fire on Dawson Lane, Whittle-le-Woods.

Crews used one hose reel to extinguish the fire and were in attendance for approximately two and a half hours.
