One person is believed to have been taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition
Emergency services rushed to the scene of a three vehicle collision on Sunday afternoon.
The collision happened on East Lancashire Road close to the Junction of Chaddock Lane in Worsley around 4:30pm involving a van and two cars.
A large emergency service presence was dispatched to the scene alongside the North West Air Ambulance.
It is currently unknown how many casualties were treated as a result of the collision, but we understand that at least one person has been rushed to hospital with injuries that are thought to be life-threatening.
A cordon remains in place with motorists advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said earlier:
“We are responding to a serious three-vehicle road traffic collision on Chaddock Lane in Worsley tonight.
The East Lancashire Road has been closed heading into Manchester. Please avoid the area and plan routes accordingly.”
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said:
“At around 4.30pm on Sunday 23 February, two fire engines from Farnworth Community Fire Station, and the Technical Response Unit from Leigh Community Fire Station were called to attend a road traffic collision involving a van and two cars on Chaddock Lane, Worsley.
Crews arrived quickly and are working alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service to make the area safe.”
