The road was closed for a short while to allow emergency services to respond to the incident safely
Emergency services rushed to reports of a van fire in Blackpool on Saturday night.
Firefighters were dispatched from St Annes and South Shore fire stations and crews wearing breathing apparatus, and two hose reels spent around an hour fighting the blaze.
In a social media post made earlier, Lancashire Police said:
“We want to update you and let you know that Progress Way Eastbound at the junction with Cropper Road North is currently closed due to a a vehicle fire. Traffic is being diverted onto Midgeland Road.”
We anticipate that the road will be closed for some time, whilst we make sure the road is safe.
The road was reopened just before 11pm.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service said:
“At 20:41, three fire engines from Blackpool, South Shore, and St Annes stations attended an van fire on Progress Way, Blackpool.
Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and two hose reels. Crews remained at the scene for around one hour.
