The road is likely to remain closed for a short time whilst firefighters tackle the fire
Emergency services are currently on scene of a vehicle fire in Blackpool tonight.
Progress Way Eastbound is closed at the Junction with Cropper Road North to allow emergency services to carry out their work safely.
A diversion has been put in place with Lancashire Police and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service in attendance.
In a social media post, Blackpool Police said:
“We want to update you and let you know that Progress Way Eastbound at the junction with Cropper Road North is currently closed due to a a vehicle fire. Traffic is being diverted onto Midgeland Road.
We anticipate that the road will be closed for some time, whilst we make sure the road is safe.
In the meantime, we’d recommend avoiding the area and driving carefully, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination.
We’ll keep tabs on what’s happening, and we’ll update you here once we know more. As always, thank you for your patience and stay safe if you’re out and about today.”
