Officers traced the vehicle to a hotel in the town in what Police are describing as a cracking bit of police work
A number of people have been charged following an investigation into drug dealing in Blackburn.
In a social media update, Lancashire Police said:
“We wanted to let you know about a cracking bit of police work which has resulted in a number of people being charged with serious drug offences.
Taking drugs off the streets is a continual goal for our Targeted Crime Team (TCT) and with covert operations, early morning raids and specialist support, they work tirelessly to tackle serious criminality and safeguarding issues linked to drug dealing.
On Wednesday 12th February officers from East TCT witnessed a drug deal near Bolton Road, Blackburn and officers detained a man.
Other officers traced the dealer’s vehicle to a nearby hotel in the Blakey Moor area of the town.
Two men went into the hotel and after about half an hour came back out and got into the car. TCT officers approached the car, but it tried to drive off and officers had to smash the windows to stop the vehicle and gain entry.
Two men were arrested, and cash and phones were recovered from the car.
A third man was arrested inside the hotel and drugs, cash and phones recovered.
Enquiries showed the men had been in Blackburn at the hotel for over a week and messages on the phones revealed they had been recruiting customers and offering testers out to try to establish a new drugs line.
Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service all three men were charged with drug offences and have been remanded to appear at Preston Crown Court next month.
Drugs bring misery to our communities, and we will pursue anyone we believe to be involved in drug related crime.
As always, we need intelligence coming from members of the public to alert us to potential drugs activity so that we can investigate and continue to disrupt these organised gangs. We would encourage anyone who feels that they have information that could help to contact us or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously.”
