Derelict building fire forces West Lancashire road closure

The fire involves a former pub in the rural village of Dalton

Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service are currently in attendance at a derelict building fire in Dalton.

Fire crews rushed to the scene on Wednesday night, and crews from various stations across Lancashire were dispatched to the fire, which involved the former Prince William Inn.

The rural road is closed in both directions from Higher Lane down beacon Lane and is likely to be for some time.

Lancashire Police are also in attendance,  in a social media post made earlier a spokesperson for the force said:

“Police are on scene assisting Lancashire Fire and Rescue service with an incident at The Prince William Inn on Beacon Ln. This has resulted in the closure of Beacon Ln and Higher Ln in Dalton.

Please avoid the area and plan your route accordingly.

Thank you in advance for your patience.”

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service said:

“At 20:50 on 19 February 2025, four fire engines from Skelmersdale and Wigan, along with an aerial ladder platform from Preston and a water bowser from Leyland, attended a fire involving a derelict property on Beacon Lane, Dalton.

On scene fire crews utilised two hose reels, a water tower, one handheld jet and holmatro cutting equipment. Crews remain on scene.”
