This follows an incident in the Boardsley Green area of the city on Saturday night

A teenager who cannot be named for legal reasons has been charged with a wounding offence following the stabbing of a 16-year-old boy.

In an update posted today, West Midlands Police said:

“We have charged a 16-year-old boy after a further 16-year-old boy was stabbed in Bordesley Green on Saturday (15 Feb).

The 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been remanded into custody to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today (Tuesday).

The boy has been charged with wounding with intent, possession of an offensive weapon, and attempted robbery.

He was arrested on Monday (17 Feb) after a a boy, also aged 16, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in a stable condition.

Despite false reports online, we know that no disorder took place at any hospital in Birmingham following the stabbing.

We have confirmed this with officers who were in attendance, ambulance officials, and hospital staff who were on duty at the time.

The boy’s family, along with community members close to him, gathered at the hospital and were understandably upset and concerned with his welfare. There was no disorder.

Any claims of ambulances being raided or looted are untrue, and images being shared on social media which claim to show people carrying weapons at a hospital are fake.”
