Six fire engines attended a large barn fire in Rufford on Saturday afternoon

Seven fire engines were dispatched to a large barn fire in a rural West Lancashire village.

Firefighters from across the region attended and used two hose reel jets, six breathing apparatus and a water tower to extinguish the fire, and was in attendance for seven hours.

The incident happened shortly before 2pm on Holmswood Road.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service said:

“At 13:50, six fire engines and water tower were called to a fire involving an outbuilding on Holmeswood Road, Rufford.

Firefighters from Lancashire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester used six breathing apparatus, a water tower, two hose reel jets, and one main jet to extinguish the fire.

Crews were in attendance for seven hours.
