A 28-year-old man has been arrested and remains in custody for questioning
A man has been arrested after a property had shots fired through its window in broad daylight in Liverpool.
A cordon remains in place whilst an investigation is carried out into the shooting on Acanthus Road on Saturday afternoon.
In a statement released today, Merseyside Police said:
“We are appealing for information following a non-injury firearms discharge in Old Swan this afternoon, Saturday 15 February.
At around 3.50pm, we received a report that shots had been fired at a house on Acanthus Road, which caused damage to a front window of the property, but thankfully no one was injured.
It was further reported that two males, who were dressed in all black clothing, fled the scene on foot in the direction of Doric Road.
Officers attended and following inquiries were able to arrest a 28-year-old man in connection to the incident. He has been taken into police custody to be questioned.
A cordon is in place at the scene and officers remain in the area to carry out the early stages of the investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy McCourt said: “The investigation is in its very early stages and officers are currently in the area to carry out CCTV and house-to-house inquiries.
“Thankfully no one was injured, but this firearms discharge could have had catastrophic consequences.
“There were people inside the house at the time of the incident, including children, so clearly this could have been much worse.
“I’m sure the local community will be just as appalled as we are and I want to reassure them that we are determined to find the people responsible.
“Those involved in serious organised crime are clearly willing to carry and use firearms in Merseyside, but we will be relentless in removing them from our streets.
“Information from the public is vital if we are to breakdown the organised crime groups who bring misery to our streets and I would appeal to anyone who has information to come forward.
“I completely understand that speaking up could be daunting, but when people are willing to support the police we will ensure every possible avenue is progressed to protect them.”
