This is due to intelligence of organised anti-social behaviour and violence
A dispersal order has been placed around Coventry City Centre on Friday morning following reports of organised anti-social behaviour and violence.
In a statement released today, West Midlands Police said:
“We have introduced special powers in Coventry city centre this morning (Fri) following reports of organised antisocial behaviour.
A Section 35 dispersal order will commence Friday 14th February 2025 at 11am which allows us to move on people we believe are contributing to antisocial behaviour or crime.
The powers will be in place for 48 hours until Sunday morning at 11 am.
We have introduced them following reports of organised antisocial behaviour and violence that may occur in and around Coventry city centre.”
Inspector Maria Perrin, from Coventry local police, said: “We won’t tolerate any kind of antisocial behaviour, or violence in the city centre, and we have put the Section 35 dispersal in place to move anyone on who we believe may be causing problems.
“This dispersal order will be in place over the weekend until Sunday morning. We will have extra officers, partners, and security teams in the area over the weekend to offer reassurance.”
