A shoplifter from Leyland is starting a prison sentence after pleading guilty to stealing a joint of meat and protein bars from  local shops.

In a social media update, Lancashire Police said:

“This is Andrew Ritchie

He’s been jailed for stealing joints of meat and protein bars from shops in Leyland.

Earlier this week, Ritchie, 29, of Leyland Lane, appeared at Preston Magistrates Court and pleaded guilty to the charges. He’s been jailed for 14 weeks.

Operation Vulture is Lancashire Constabulary’s response to shoplifting across the county, backed by Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw.

The operation sees dedicated officers undertaking hotspot patrolling, increasing their visibility in targeted areas and creating strong partnerships with retailers across the county to better share intelligence, get a deeper understanding of retail crime and identify more offenders.”
