Police car damaged following collision with Vauxhall astra

A 59-year-old man was taken to hospital as a precaution measure following the smash in Sheffield

A Police car was left with significant damage to its front end following a collision on Friday afternoon.

The collision happened on Penistone Road shortly before 3pm, forcing a closure to be put in place whilst recovery of the vehicles were recovered.

No injuries were reported, and a 59-year-old man was admitted to hospital as a precautionary measure said South Yorkshire Police.

A spokesperson for the force said:

“At 3.25pm on Friday (7 February), we were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Penistone Road.”It is reported that a police vehicle and a blue Vauxhall Astra were involved in a collision.

No injuries were reported, but a 59-year-old man attended hospital as a precaution. Penistone Road was closed for a short time. Both vehicles have been recovered, and the road reopened at 4.24pm.”
