A lorry collided with a low bridge on Monday morning, causing traffic chaos in Hull.

Images from the scene show the Menzies Distribution lorry one of the UKs largest newspaper distribution company stuck under the bridge on Stoneferry Road.

A road closure was put in place whilst the collision was dealt with, and the area reopened around 6pm.

It is not known if any injuries were sustained to the driver and no other vehicles were involved.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said earlier:

“Please be aware Stoneferry Road is currently closed at the Mount Pleasant and Cleveland Street roundabout whilst officers deal with single-vehicle road traffic collision.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible.”

People expressed their concerns to the collision on social media, one commenter said:

“Majority of these could be avoided by a big warning sign like the one on the A5 at hinckley.

It flashes if you’re over height and tells you to turn around before the roundabout if over height.

But they’d rather spend money painting roads green and making cycle lanes.”
