A 17-year-old boy has been charged with dangerous driving after failing to stop for officers in Blackpool on Sunday afternoon.

Officers alongside the helicopter and police dogs were involved in the pursuit that saw the rider raz round Stanley Park and the Promenade before being brought to a halt in town.

In an update posted today, Lancashire Police said:

“You will have seen considerable police activity in Blackpool yesterday afternoon, around Stanley Park and the Promenade, and we want to tell you why.

At around 1.30pm, an ebike was seen being ridden in a dangerous manner and it failed to stop when requested by our officers.

A pursuit started which included use of the police helicopter and a number of officers on the roads, with the ebike entering Stanley Park for a considerable time before returning to the road network.

It travelled in the town centre and on the Promenade, before the pursuit ended at 2.25pm when our officers brought the ebike to a stop on New Bonney Street.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested.

He’s now been charged with dangerous driving and failing to stop and has been bailed to appear before Preston Youth Court on 25th February.”
