Witness appeal following M6 horror smash that left man seriously injured

Anyone who witnessed the collision are urged to come forward

Lancashire Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision involving a van amd an artic lorry on the M6 to come forward.

The collision happened on the northbound carriageway just before 5:30am near Bilsborrow on Wednesday morning.

The motorway was closed for several hours whilst investigators carried out their work.

In an appeal made today, Lancashire Police said:

“Yesterday  we told you about a collision on the M6, and we have an update to bring you.

At 5:20am yesterday, we received a report of a collision between an Iveco Daily Van and a Renault Heavy Tractor Artic HGV on the Northbound carriageway of the M6, near to Bilsborrow.

The driver of the Iveco, a man in his 50s, suffered serious injuries, and was taken to hospital, where he remains.

Our thoughts are very much with him and his loved ones as he receives treatment.

We know that a number of vehicles will have passed the scene of the collision, so if you were in one of those vehicles, or have dashcam footage to assist our investigation, please get in touch with us.”
