Two men acquitted of raping woman on Eastbourne beach

A woman reported to police that she had been raped by two men on Eastbourne beach in East Sussex back on August 9th 2024.

Two men accused of the rape of a woman on Eastbourne beach have been found not guilty after a trial.

Naveed Muhamadi, 18, and Jawad Khel, 18, stood trial at Lewes Crown Court, where they were acquitted.

In a statement released today, Sussex Police said:

“Police investigated the incident at Eastbourne beach that occurred in the early hours of August 9 last year.

A young woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, received support from specially trained officers.”

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Bates from the Safeguarding Investigations Unit said: “We respect the verdict of the jury in this case.

“I would like to thank witnesses who came forward to support our investigation.”
