The road is expected to be closed for some time following the gas leak
Livesey Branch Road in Blackburn is currently closed to both pedestrians and vehicles due to a gas leak.
In a social media post, Lancashire Police said:
“We want to update you and let you know that Livesey Branch Road is currently closed between the junctions of Green Lane and Shorrock Lane while we assist Cadent with a gas leak.
We anticipate that the road will be closed for some time, whilst we assess the situation.
In the meantime, we’d recommend avoiding the area and driving carefully, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination.
We’ll keep tabs on what’s happening, and we’ll update you here once the road is open. As always, thank you for your patience and stay safe if you’re out and about today.”
Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council said in a social media post:
“Due to a gas leak, a stretch of Livesey Branch Road in Blackburn remains closed.
The closure is expected to be needed until at least tomorrow afternoon to allow for emergency works to be undertaken.
The closure is in place from the top of Shorrock Lane to the top of Green Lane.
Diversions are clearly signed and St Bede’s High School is still accessible.
When the road does re-open, temporary traffic lights will be operating.
We will update you as soon as we have any more information.”
