The motorway is expected to be closed for some time say Lancashire Police

Morning commuters are expecting severe delays this morning due to a serious crash on the M6 Motorway.

The Northbound carriageway between Junction 32 for the M55 interchange and Junction 33 for Garstang is currently closed with traffic building up in the area.

The accident is reported to involve an HGV and a van.

Motorists are advised to find alternative routes.

Lancashire Police, Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service, and North West Ambulance Service are all in attendance.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said:

“We want to update you and let you know that the M6 Northbound between junctions 32-33 is currently closed due to a road traffic collision.

We anticipate that the motorway will be closed for some time.

In the meantime, we’d recommend looking for an alternative route and driving carefully, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination.

We’ll keep tabs on what’s happening and we’ll update you here once the motorway is open. As always, thank you for your patience and stay safe if you’re out and about today.
