The man in his 40s suffers an injury to the head possibly caused by a knuckle Duster Say Police
Detectives are appealing for information following an assault on a bus in Liverpool City Centre yesterday evening, Tuesday 4 February.
At around 7pm, a man in his 40s reported that he had been verbally abused and assaulted on the 487 bus from Liverpool to Neston, causing a small laceration to his head, possibly from a knuckleduster or similar weapon.
It is believed that the assault occurred in Sir Thomas Street, Liverpool before the bus was stopped in Teehey Lane, Bebington for further enquiries to be carried out. The offender is believed to have left the bus at Sir Thomas Street. A substance was also thrown at the victim but this has been confirmed as food dye and there is no wider risk.
Detective Inspector Mike Fletcher said:
“We’re keen to speak to all of the passengers on the 487 between Liverpool and Bebington to gather any information, as this will have been a concerning incident to witness.
“We initially believe that the victim and offender know each other, but the suspect is yet to be identified.”
