Arrests made in Levenshulme double stabbing investigation

Two men have been arrested following a horror stabbing in Levenshulme that left a boy, 16 and man aged 20 seriously injured.

The men, both in their 20s, have been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault.

In an update posted today, Greater Manchester Police said:

“Shortly before 7pm on Tuesday 4 February 2025, we received reports of a stabbing in the vicinity of Rushford Street and Purcell Street. 

Emergency services attended and two males – aged 16 and 20 – were taken to hospital with serious injuries, where they remain. Their injuries are described as not life threatening or life changing. 

An investigation was launched, and we have swiftly made two arrests this afternoon, (Wednesday 5 February 2025).

Detective Inspector Natalie McDonald of our City of Manchester division, said: “We understand the concerns of residents and want to reassure the community that we believe this was a targeted attack with no wider threat.

“Two males have received injuries as a result of this incident and are being treated in hospital, where they remain in a stable condition.

“We take any type of violence very seriously and will not tolerate it on our streets.
