A man was arrested and released on bail pending further enquiries after the incident
Police are appealing for a witness to a sexual assault on an elderly woman to come forward.
The incident is believed to have taken place in the accident and emergency department waiting area at St James University Hospital back in December.
In an appeal made today, West Yorkshire Police said:
“Detectives investigating a sexual assault on an elderly woman at St James’s Hospital in Leeds are appealing to trace a specific witness to the incident.
The victim was in the A&E waiting area when the incident occurred at about 10.50pm on Friday, December 13 last year.
A member of the public alerted hospital staff to the incident but that person’s details are not known, and officers are keen to trace them to assist the investigation.
A 40-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and subsequently released on bail with conditions not to attend hospital other than for a medical emergency or pre-arranged appointment.”
