Detectives are appealing for anyone who knew Lamduan and her family to come forward
Detectives from the cold case unit investigating the murder of Lamduan Armitage, known as ‘Lady of the Hills’, who was found by walkers two decades ago have released a suspect arrested on suspicion of murder over the weekend on bail.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said:
“The 61-year-old man arrested on Saturday (1 February 2025) on suspicion of the murder of Lamduan Armitage in 2004 has been released on conditional bail while police enquiries continue.
“We again strongly urge the media and public to refrain from speculation about the case to ensure fair justice can be delivered in line with the Contempt of Court Act 1981.
“Where we believe there have been breaches of contempt laws, we have the option of referring them to the Attorney General’s Office to consider.
“We also urge the media to respect the rights and privacy of those connected to the case, including family members.”
Appeal for information in the Doncaster and Preston areas.
Investigators are continuing to appeal for information about the case and to build a clear picture of Lamduan’s life in the UK before her death.
In particular, we are urging people to come forward who may have got to know Lamduan and her family when – between March to early October 2004 following her death – they lived in:
the village of Sprotborough near Doncaster, South Yorkshire and Preston, Lancashire
