Patrols have been stepped up in the area whilst enquiries continue
A major investigation is underway following a double stabbing in Longsight on Tuesday evening.
In a statement released today, Greater Manchester Police said:
“Shortly before 7pm on Tuesday 4 February 2025, we were called to reports of a stabbing in the vicinity of Rushford Street and Purcell Street, in Levenshulme.
Emergency services attended and two young men, aged 16 and 20, were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Currently, no arrests have been made, and an investigation is underway.”
Detective Inspector Terina Arthern, from our City of Manchester division said: “We have launched an investigation, and we are following several lines of enquiry to establish the timeline of events which led to two young men being injured tonight.
“You may notice additional officers deployed in the local area while we conduct our enquiries. Please do not hesitate to speak to them if you have any concerns or information you’d like to share.
“We are urging anyone who was in the area this evening who may have seen or heard something, or anyone who has any information that will assist our enquiries, to come forward and speak with police.
