Emergency services descended on the Birkenhead and Liverpool Pier Head on Sunday morning, where they sadly found the body of a man.
Officers alongside the Coastguard, Ambulance Service, and Fire Service attended the area just before 9:30am.
In a statement released today, Merseyside Police said:
“We can confirm that emergency services were in Birkenhead and Liverpool Pier Head following the discovery of a body yesterday morning, Sunday 2 February.
At around 9.25am, the body of a man was found at Priory Wharf. He was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.
Officers worked with the Coastguard, NWAS, and MFRS to recover the body to Liverpool and work will be carried out to confirm the man’s identity.
The death is being treated as unexplained pending further enquiries.”
