The vehicle was stopped by Lancashires Road Crime Team
Police in Lancashire stopped a car on the M55 this afternoon and found £9,000 in cash inside a suitcase hidden behind the drivers seat.
The driver and a passenger were arrested and taken into custody.
In a social media post made today, Lancashire Police said:
“At around 12:10am today (Friday 31st January) our Roads Crime Team stopped a red Toyota Yarris on the M55.
Officers had reason to search the vehicle under the misuse of drugs act, following which they found approximately £9,000 of cash in a suitcase behind the driver’s seat.
The driver, a 34 year old man, and the passenger, a 33 year old man, both from Blackpool, were arrested on suspicion of money laundering.
They are currently in custody.
