Cyclist critical following collision with double decker bus

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward

A cyclist a man in his 30s remains in hospital in a critical condition after suffering head injuries following a collision with a double decker bus in Leeds City Centre on Wednesday afternoon.

In an appeal made today, West Yorkshire Police said:

“Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Leeds city centre involving a cyclist and a bus.

The incident occurred in Whitehall Road at about 3.25pm on Wednesday, January 29, and involved a double-decker bus and an electrically assisted pedal cycle.

The rider, a 36-year-old man, sustained serious head injuries and remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the collision are ongoing, and officers from the Roads Policing Unit are keen to speak to any witnesses, particularly anyone who was a passenger of the bus which was a number 229 service travelling to Leeds city centre from Heckmondwike.”
