An investigation is underway to establish the cause of the fire
Firefighters have managed to bring the fire under control and have spent the night dampening down after a fire engulfed the former Strand Lodge hotel in Blackpool on Monday evening.
Eight pumps and two aerial ladder platforms attended at the height of the blaze. Road closures remain in place, and an investigation is now underway.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service said:
“We currently have eight fire engines and two aerial ladder platforms at a fire on Wilton Parade, Blackpool. The fire involves a derelict building, and as a result, people close to the incident are advised to keep windows and doors shut and, if possible, avoid the area, as there are road closures in place.
The fire is now under control, and we are looking to reduce the number of fire engines at the scene shortly. We will have a presence at the scene throughout the night, and the local roads will remain closed. The fire is under investigation, and the cause has still to be determined.”
