Police launch appeal after racist words carved into Accrington bowling green

An appeal has been launched after racist words, including a swastika was carved into a bowling green on an Accrington park.

In an appeal made today, Lancashire Police said:

“Witness appeal – racially aggravated criminal damage.

Overnight on the 23rd of January 2025 Unknown Offenders have caused damaged to the top Bowling Green at Oak Hill Park.

Offenders using an unknown instrument, have carved a racist word, and a swastika into the grass.

This damage is extensive, and it will take months for the Bowling Green to be completely repaired.
